Man-Kit (Karlo) Lei received the Charles B. Knapp Early Career Scholar Award from the Office of Research in recognition of his outstanding research accomplishments.

Justine Tinkler received a Sandy Beaver Excellence in Teaching Award from the Franklin College for her exceptional and sustained teaching contributions.  

RSF: The Russell Sage Foundation Journal of the Social Sciences just published two volumes of peer reviewed articles from the Multi-State Study of Monetary Sanctions that Dr. Sarah Shannon has been a co-PI on for the past six years.

“The book offers a sociological study of gender regarding women in the heavy metal subculture. Relying on interviews with fans, women have made progress in the metal world, although gendered conditions also continue to exist.
