We are excited to announce that Gillian Slee has received the Law & Society Association Article Prize for 2026 for her paper titled "Home but not free: Rule-breaking, withdrawal, and dignity in reentry".

Abstract: What drives rule-breaking or withdrawal from supportive resources after prison? In an ethnographic study published in Criminology, Gillian Slee demonstrates how both everyday indignities and people’s desire for social belonging shape outcomes for individuals on parole. By tracing the subtle harms of community supervision, Dr. Slee's research extends how we understand poverty governance, institutional failure, and the human toll of reentry.
