Her superb research agenda concerning emotions and affect control theory, her commitment to the section and the field of Emotions, and so many other of her contributions to the understanding of emotions have made this year’s committee decision very easy.

Dr. Pridemore’s main research interests include the effects of social structure, alcohol, and policy on violence, health, and mortality. He has published over 110 peer-reviewed articles, with many appearing in top tier journals in sociology, criminology, public health, and drug use.

Saifa Tazrin has been awarded the International Peace Scholarship for 2023-24. The fund was established in 1949 by P.E.O and provides scholarships for international women to pursue graduate education in the U.S. or Canada.

Lacey Moore and Alyssa Brown were both awarded 2023 Summer Doctoral Research Assistantships from UGA's Graduate School. These competitive awards provide funding that allows advanced doctoral candidates to focus on their dissertation research during the summer. 

Dr. Leslie Gordon Simons was recognized with the distinction of an Active Learning Leader at the Active Learning Summit in February, following completion of the Active Learning Summer Institute (ALSI).
