Dr. William Finlay, Meigs Distinguished TeachingProfessor of Sociology (view Dr. Finlay's Meigs video), is co-director of the UGA Study-Abroad Program in Stellenbosch, South Africa. He has been at the University of Georgia since 1988 and received a Ph.D. in Sociology from Northwestern University in 1983. Prior to coming to the University of Georgia, he taught at the University of Iowa. Dr. Finlay's specialty areas include the workplace, organizations, and economic sociology. He is currently writing two books: the first (in collaboration with Jim Coverdill) examines how the role and activities of headhunters have changed due to social media and economic uncertainty and the second looks at how markets and networks shape the selling of South African wines in the U.S. market.
