Graduate Students Win 3 of Last 5 ASA Awards!

Congratulations to Zara Jillani, who has received the Graduate Student Investigator Award from the ASA Social Psychology Section. The award is given to only ONE doctoral student each year and provides up to $2,000 to meet some of the research expenses for an applicant’s dissertation, thesis, or other publishable research. Zara's project is titled How Status Transfers from Task Groups to Informal Groups and is considered by the award to be an innovative and outstanding research project that makes a significant contribution to social psychological scholarship.

Zara's selection means that in the last five years, UGA Sociology graduate students have won 3 of the 5 awards, as well as an honorable mention (2nd place):
