The Stellenbosch, South Africa, Study Abroad Program is a four-week Maymester program that offers a unique combination of classroom learning, community engagement, and wildlife viewing.  Students will take two classes, South African Society (SOCI/INTl 4560S) and Politics of Development (SOCI/INTL 4320S), and will earn six hours of Sociology credit.

Stellenbosch is a lively college town and the capital of the Western Cape wine region.  Located less than 30 miles from Cape Town, the city provides a vibrant, urban feel set to the breathtaking backdrop of South African wine country.

As part of the program, students will get the chance to fully engage with the South African community by participating in a four-week service-learning project in the nearby community of Kayamandi.

The program includes weekend excursions to Cape Town and a 6-day trip at the end to Johannesburg, Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, and Chobe Game Reserve in Botswana.
