Dr. Pablo Lapegna is Assistant Professor of Sociology and Latin American and Caribbean Studies. He joined the University of Georgia in 2011, after receiving his PhD. in Sociology from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. His specialty areas include social movements, ethnography and qualitative methods, Latin American Studies, environmental sociology, and political sociology. His current work focuses on the socio-environmental consequences of the expansion of genetically modified (GM) crops in Argentina, and on the relationship between poor people’s movements, patronage politics, and processes of demobilization.
